Obituary of Ivan Grant Shipley

SHIPLEY, Ivan Grant

Passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, at the age of 88 years.  Beloved husband of Geraldine “Gerry” Edith Shipley (nee Smith).  Loving father of Karen Kingdon (Doug), Kevin Shipley (Wanda), Ron Shipley (Sharon), and Ian Shipley (Barb).  Cherished Poppi to 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.  Predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Mabel Shipley (nee Kelly), his brother Bruce Shipley, and his twin sister Mabel Henry.  Ivan and his brother Bruce operated Shipley’s Forest Ltd, which provided cartage services, and later, Lakeside Grain & Feed, a multi-service agricultural company, serving the farming community of Lambton County for many years.  Ivan and his wife Gerry shared a love for spending time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He also enjoyed his annual adventures at Lake Mozhabong, portaging into the camp that he shared with his life long fishing buddies.  Working in the garden and yard at home was also a favourite pastime, and in the evenings, when the Toronto Maple Leafs didn’t have a game, he could be found in his woodworking shop, creating gifts for his family.  In accordance with Ivan’s wishes, a private funeral service will take place.  In memoriam donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or to the Strathroy Middlesex Health Alliance would be greatly appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be left at www.forestfuneralhome.com.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF FOREST
