Debbie and I met in the late 80s. She taught me about struggle and about love. I admired her resilience and strength. I was pleased to reconnect when she found me on facebook a few years back. I am so sorry to hear of her death.

I worked with Debbie the last few years as members of the Waterloo Region Suicide Prevention Council. Debbie held us accountable to high standards of inclusivity, and always was willing to take on tasks to support her community in suicide prevention. I will miss her voice and presence at the council meetings and hold fond memories of her in my heart. My condolences to her family and friends. What a big loss for our community.
