Dear Joan and family,
I met Al back in the fall of 1967 when I went to Colborne St School on one of my first practice teaching assignments out of Teachers' College. The following year, my first job was teaching grade 4 at Murray St. As a result of teaching in the same area and also teaching a couple of your children, I got to know Al on a professional level. However, it never seemed like that kind of relationship. It always seemed more personal. I found that Al always had that gentle, friendly smile whenever you talked with him. I think his quiet demeanor is what drew kids to him. He will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sincerely,
Larry

Dear Carol and Family,
So sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with your Dad at Riverview early in my career. As a principal, he was always very supportive and kind. I can still hear his chuckle as he was always so positive. Keep your memories close.

Our deepest condolences to our neighbours and friends The Ward Family. Allan was the first person in our new neighbourhood to welcome us to Lakeside when we moved here many years ago. Over he came with one of his Rose of Sharon plants all potted and ready to go in the ground, and as we came to know Allan, Joan and all the Ward family we found thoughtful and caring new friends. We enjoyed many chats and living room visits with Allan and we will always remember his charm, wit and caring manner. Sincerely George and Patci Stephen

Mr Ward (Allan) was one of my favorite teachers many years ago at Corunna Public School. He had a quiet but firm manner that seemed to fit for me....as I was not always the best behaved student. Over the years when you might run into him at some event, he would always smile and acknowledge you.... well aware that you were one of his students in the past. Mr Ward is remembered and certainly left his mark on the community. My thoughts are with his family. Rest in Peace. Ken
