To the family of Fred....please accept our sincerest sympathy on the loss of a great man! I attempted to make contact this morning with Fred, not being aware of his recent passing., so it is with shock that we try to process this news. My husband and I met Fred and Annabelle when they attended First Lobo Baptist Church and have many memories to reflect upon, even after his move to Forest. We have a copy of Fred's biography and several pieces of his handiwork...tatting,needlepoint and petite point. A number of years ago Fred attempted to teach me needlepoint....I was a dismal student!! My much younger eyes couldn't see and count those tiny holes like Fred could. His work was amazing! In the end Fred finished my project!! So many memories!! He touched our lives and we are grateful to have known him. Dean and Brenda Dolbear

My condolences go out to all of Fred's family and friends. I met Fred at the Forest PROBUS Club where I came to know him as a true gentleman and artist. He brought some samples of his gorgeous tatting to a club meeting where all his fellow members could appreciate his talent. I regret that my acquaintance with Fred was so brief.

I really enjoyed talking with Mr. Walz. Always a gentleman, so kind, humble, and a gifted storyteller who even wrote a book about his life. I will miss him very much.

My sincere condolences to all that loved Fred. I got to know Fred when Annabelle lived at the Lodge. In all of our many conversations he was such a soft spoken, intelligent, true gentleman and I really enjoyed our chats. He often showed me some of the latest projects he was working on and he was a true artist. He gifted me some of his lacework once, small doilies that he humbly felt were just practice pieces and they are so beautiful I have them framed and hanging in my house where they have recieved the admiration they deserve. Fred was a gentleman from another era, and I was glad to have known him.

Our condolences to the family on Fred's passing. We enjoyed the moments we had with Fred over the years. Fred had an amazing life story and his book is a real treasure. Pam showed an interest in learning to tat, and Fred, realizing she was left handed and having difficulty handling the shuttle, taught himself how to needle tat with his left hand so he could teach her. We rejoice that he is now in a place where there is no more pain and no more tears.
