Vel, and family. Sid was a great friend of my Dad from their days in Forest to working life in Ottawa. A roar of laughter is what I remember growing up when you came to visit the house in Ottawa. That sentiment continued when we we visited you in Forest. My Dad always tells the story about taking a new visitor to Canada up to Parliament Hill and bumping into Sid in the hallway who offered to take the tourist in to see the Prime Minister. My father was equally impressed as our visiting friend.

Your dad is always so kind and welcoming every time we came to Forest. I'll always remember my first visit in 1973 when he proudly gave us a tour of the farm, introduced us to the family and was so hospitable. He always made us feel so comfortable!

Dear Vel and family,
I had the joy of working with Sid when we were members together of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal. Sid was fun to work with and fun to play with too. We came from rather different backgrounds. I had come from the federal civil service. Sid probably regarded me as an Ottawa smoothly! I saw in him a person of deep experience in agriculture and public affairs, a person rooted in his community, a great family man, a man of great integrity and common sense, an all round good egg! Sid led a life of service and love for those around him, not just for his family. He is off to his rest and this will be in a very good place.

We were very sorry to learn of Sid's death and we send our sincere condolences to the Fraleigh family.
When we began high school in grade 9, Sid was in grade 11, prominent in sports, and other activities. At that point, I had no idea that we would ever become close friends. This changed when I joined H.W. Cooper in veterinary practice in Forest in 1957.
This friendship with Sid and Vel has extended for well over 60 years. Those years have entailed many wonderful times, visits during our years living in the US, trips spent together, and times spent in the Forest area and in Hillsboro. Whenever and wherever we visited Sid and Vel, they have always been outstanding hosts. We have followed Sid's exceptional career, both in politics and in the agriculture world. Throughout his career and beyond, Sid rarely, if ever, mentioned or referred to any of his achievements.
We will miss Sid and his friendship over all those years, but we will never forget all the good times we shared. . .
