Devet, Henry John
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Henry Devet announces his passing, surrounded by his family on February 22, 2024 at his home. After a brave battle with cancer, Henry joins his beloved son Jesse in heaven.
Beloved husband for 40 years of Betty Devet (Van Kessel). Henry will be dearly missed by his children Brian (Rachel) Devet, Casey (Laura) Devet, Victoria (Brendan) Wells, and Martina (Michael) Stevens. Proud Opa of Hannah and Theo, Bryan and John, and Alice and Paige. Son of the late Casey (1979) and Mary (2016) Devet. He will be fondly remembered by his siblings Lucy (Louis) Hendrikx, Joanne (Harry) Slaats, Frank (Elsie) Devet, Alda (Jerry) Bongers, and Nancy Verberk, and many nieces and nephews. Son-in-law to Martin (2003) and Minnie Van Kessel and brother-in-law to Maria (Ties) Althuizen, Tony Van Kessel, Nancy (Chris) Oomen, Peter (Melanie) Van Kessel, and Riekie (Dave) Soetemans. Predeceased by his son Jesse (1989), brother John Devet (1973), and brother-in-law Martin Verberk (1997).
Henry took over the family farm, which he ran with Betty until his retirement in 2017, when they built their new house with room for all their children and grandchildren to visit. Henry enjoyed nature and going on hikes, and spending time tending to his garden. He was an avid reader, and also enjoyed playing cards, rock-and-roll music and watching the Toronto Maple Leafs.
