Our deepest condolences to Joan's family. We have known both Joan and Allan since they moved permanently to the lake and became members of Forest United Church. Joan had such a big heart, was willing to help others and always had a kind word for everyone. I was on Joan's "calling list" and we always had a good chat when she called for squares or help. She never failed to ask about the well being of our children and grandchildren and loved sharing stories of her own. I will miss those phone calls with her very much. We will be thinking of you all during these difficult days.

To Joan's family
My mother was across from your mother on the Medical floor. On behalf of my mother and our entire family, please accept our most heartfelt condolences. In just the few days we got to know your mother, she touched our hearts. She was so sweet and kind in her interactions with everyone who came into the room whether they were staff or visitors. She never complained no matter how she felt. And she was quick to offer us information on how my mother did whether it was how she had slept or how she had done with her meal. We were so upset when your mother was moved because we all enjoyed visiting with her when we visited my mother.
One day I over heard her talking to a nurse. The nurse had asked if she had had any visitors that day. I believe that day one of the boys had been in and your mother's reply was "I am so lucky to have my kids" Her love for you all shone through in those words and I hope that little story helps to bring a smile to your faces.
Please know that your mother was a pleasure to have met, if even for a brief time. We are all thinking of you at this difficult time

Carol, Paul, Michael, Tim, Joel and families.
I am so sorry to hear of Joan's death. She was such a lovely lady, with a kind soul, great sense of humour and a beautiful smile. Allan and her family meant the world to her, and I loved hearing her stories during our many phone conversations. She was always so supportive of people she cared for, and she helped me during my recent health issues.
Her family get togethers, good meals, and playing games with her family brought her such joy.
I will miss my friend, and please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Love, Brenda Hale

Joan and Allan were so welcoming to us when we move to Hillcrest Heights, and over the years we enjoyed many visits and chats. We will miss hearing her voice as she called for her kittens and cats to come to dinner. We knew how important her family and loved ones were to her and anyone who came to her door was made to feel welcome and at home. George and I will miss you Joan thank you for being a wonderful neighbour and friend

Joan always wore a smile and warmth oozed from her soul. My children benefited from Mrs. Wards supply days at elementary school and she always loved sharing stories with me, about them in class. They too looked forward to the “survival” boxes of treats post secondary arriving at their away from home, homes. When we’d meet on the street a good long chat would always take place. Take good care Ward family.
With sincere condolences,
Kerri, Jamie, Adam, Kelsey, Tyler Prong and family

We are saddened to learn about Mrs. Ward's passing. Her warmth and friendliness always made Sunday School special for us both. The gift boxes filled with delicious treats for post-secondary students she organized were always appreciated and brightened our days during exams. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with your family at this difficult time.
