The Arkona Lions will miss Lion Dale. He was a great member for 18 years, always willing to help when possible. His work on the Arkona Lions Medical & Dental Centre Board was stellar. He cared for Rock Glen as though it was his back yard. In many ways, it was. Rest in peace, our friend.

As a former employee of ABCA, I knew Dale for over 15 years.
Dale was a kind soul and very talkative.
We had many talks as we unwound from the daily grind and I will “Be Nice” as I recall a few things.
Dale was dedicated. Dedicated to his family and taking care of Rock Glen.
“Rock Glen. Dale Cable.”
words that mean the same thing to a lot of people.
Dale took care of the visitors and whether helping them up from the gorge due to one health reason or another or taking money at the gate or directing them to the water falls or waving as people left the park. I’ll never forget the “Rock Glen Wave”.
Dale was courteous and kind. He loved his seasonal job at Rock Glen. Although there were times he had to deal with crap…overflowing toilets, garbage, angry people, ‘kilted’ people, goats, floating picnic tables and wind blown trees and me.
Dale was a romantic at heart. He loved to tease young couples about how Rock Glen was a great place to get engaged. No doubt there were many engagements and weddings to prove this.
Above all I know Dale was a proud father and husband as I heard about David & Kim and Linda often. I am so sorry for your loss. As a dedicated family man, he cooked the holiday meals. He would talk about the massive turkey thawing in the sink and how long it needed to cook while hoping he would get home on time for the Thanksgiving meal.
Dale was always busy. Busy with papers, bike repair (and selling) and grass cutting. He liked the look of the cut grass and was very respectful to the users of the park when he was on the lawn tractor.
Dale did so many things at Rock Glen that went above and beyond! I sure noticed this when I worked with him and was trained by him for gatehouse duties during the height of the pandemic. And boy did the visitors come to Rock Glen when they were looking for somewhere outdoors where they could be socially distanced…He was there through it all!
I am glad and grateful for knowing Dale and I will truly miss him. And yes “he was my friend” I will for sure “do the steps” next time I am at Rock Glen!

My condolences to the Cable Family. I started working at Ausable Bayfield around the same time as Dale, something he often reminded me of at staff events. Dale was a gracious host for the Rock Glen CA for many years. His kindness mattered to me and I am sure he will be remembered by many.
