I have many good memories of canoeing/camping with my Uncle Keith and "the boys". Whether canoeing on the Moon River in August 2003 (and coming off the river in the midst of the largest blackout in North American history), winter camping in the Pinery (and waking up to -23 degrees C temperatures) or heading out on the road, late on a Friday afternoon of a May 24th Weekend with no reservations (the only plan being, drive until we find a campsite), it was always fun. We were never certain that everyone would make it back from some of those canoe trips, but we always did, and we always had stories to tell for it. We often talked about silly things around the campfire, but we also heard stories about Keith growing up with our Grandpa Calvin Turnbull and the Grandmother we never knew... Isabelle, who died when Keith and his siblings were quite young. The nicest campfire story however, was about when Keith was in High School living on Proctor Street in Sarnia. One day a Finnish family moved in next door. Keith told us, shaking his head in disbelief with his arms open in incredulity, of his unbelievable fortune when he learned that the new family in the neighbourhood included a beautiful, young girl his age. That girl of course, was Pirjo.
Keith will be missed.
