Obituary of Veronica Josephine Rumford

Veronica 'Vera' Rumford (nee Stanley) was born in Dublin, Ireland on April 30th, 1920. She passed away on August 3rd, 2015. Always approaching life with a joyous spirit, Vera was the first on the dance floor to show off her Irish Jig, or to tell a story of her life's many adventures. Even in her last months at the nursing home she was often seen up dancing and encouraging her fellow residents to enjoy the music. Her generous friendly nature shone as she spent many years as a vital part of the Ipperwash Beach community. She passed her love of life and music on to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Vera was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph Rumford Sr. Also predeceased by parents Patrick Stanley and Mary O'Brian, brothers Robert, Benny, Jack, Christopher, Oliver, and Noel and sisters Phyllis, Esther, and Maureen. Vera is survived by daughters Joanne Rumford and Deborah Hughes, and her husband Dale, and stepson Joseph Douglas Rumford Jr. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Tara Bridger and husband Darrell with children Avalon, Lochlan, and Quinn, and Victoria Walker with husband Scott and children William and Clara. She will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to the residents and those caring staff at Meadow Park Nursing Home who brought joy and comfort to Vera in her final years. A Funeral Service celebrating her life will be held Dennings of Forest in Forest, 9 James Street South, Forest, Ontario on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 10:30 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Saturday evening there will be a sunset tribute out front of White Cliffs cottage. All are welcome. For those friends and family in the United States, a celebration of life will be held at Freighters restaurant at the Doubletree Hilton in Port Huron, Michigan at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 9, 2015.
