Obituary of Ken Bryan

Rodney's Kite Flyer, John Bailie Kenneth Bryan ("Ken") Our beloved Ken passed away peacefully on September 12, 2013 at Four Counties Health Services, Newbury, in his 92nd year. He is greatly missed. He was a businessman, entrepreneur, war veteran, gardener, kite and train enthusiast, lover of nature and things mechanical, a member of the Kiwanis, Chatham Train Club, Rodney Horticultural Club, and St. Mary's Parish of West Lorne; but above all he was a family man. He was devoted to his wife Leonie. Enjoying almost 17 years of married life, their home in Rodney welcomed family and friends. They revelled in their travels to many countries, went round dancing and square dancing, created their property into beauty, supported their community in several ways, and cherished each moment together. Predeceased by his parents John & Frances, and his brother Dan (late Claire). Survived by his brother Albert (Illa). His children Paul (Christine), Bruce (Nancy), Barbara (Lloyd), Kirsten and Jacques were his pride and joy and he graciously welcomed their spouses and partners into his life and family over the years. In 1946, along with his brother Dan, Ken opened up and co-owned and operated in KenDan Maunfacturing in Windsor, Ontario, for 5 decades before retiring in Rodney in 1996. The family has many memories to share of his guidance, humour and endless support. Ken had 12 grandchildren (in order of age), Darcy, Darryl, Alex, Kerry, Heather, Keith, Guy, James, Ian, Nicole, Katie and Leia. They all have many special memories of kite flying, tractor riding, nature hikes and Christmas blessings with their "Grandpa Ken". Grandpa Ken also had three great grandchildren, Carter, Christopher, Rylie and a fourth is expected in October. These children have been an important light and joy in his world during the past years. Cartoons, building blocks, learning to bike ride and Etch-a-Sketch were some of their play together. Ken's spirit and memory live on in our hearts and will inspire our futures.Friends may call at the RODNEY CHAPEL OF DENNING FUNERAL DIRECTORS on Sunday, September 15th, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, West Lorne on Monday at 11 am. Interment Heavenly Rest cemetery, Windsor at 4 pm.
