Obituary of Doug John Aitken

Peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Wednesday, August 31st, 2016. Douglas John Aitken of Forest, formerly of Watford, aged 78 years. Doug is survived by his loving wife Fran (VandeSchoot) of 55 years. Much loved father of Donna (Marcel) DeSchutter and adored grandfather of Melanie (Paul). Cherished brother of Jim (Donna) Aitken and Catherine (Jim) Minielly. Also missed by in laws Jane (Bill) Harmeyer, Annie VandeSchoot, Joanne (John) VandenBroek, Corry (Adrian) VanHooft, Margaret Bryce, Jean (Gord) Richardson, Jo (Bill) MacKenzie and Casey (Jenny) VandeSchoot. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Ruth and Jack Aitken, in laws John VandeSchoot, Mary (Frank) VanderBrugt and Murray Bryce. Doug was a proud member for 50 years of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Local #128. Family and friends will be received at DENNING’S OF FOREST on Friday, September 2nd, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held at the Forest United Church (21 James Street North) on Saturday, September 3rd, 2016 at 1pm. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
