Dear Aunt Alice, Janet, Barb, Diane & Family,
I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Al. I have very fond memories of him from various Upfold family events and visits to your cottage. He always had a smile on his face which I think expressed his love for life and family.

Dear Alice and Family:
Our deepest sympathy to all of you. My family have such wonderful memories of the times we spent together when we were younger. Mom and Dad cherished your friendship and considered both you and Al very close friends. While we knew that Al was not well and Alice we had spoke about that at Mom's funeral, we are very sorry to hear that he has passed away.

Alice, you and the family have lost a member who was respected and admired by many people - essentially all with whom we had mutual acquaintances.
Al and I shared many years as colleagues and as friends working for Polysar. The most memorable moments were during a trip we shared as members of the Polysar delegation to the USSR in 1979 to meet with representatives of the Soviet rubber industry. We travelled independent of the other 4 members arriving earlier and leaving later so enjoyed a sampling of Russian culture. Part of this trip was travelling by van across 600 km. starting in Moscow then to Efremov and Voronezh. We eventually visited laboratories in Leningrad but took in an extraordinary performance of Ukrainian Dance after which I was taken to hospital because of a highly infected elbow that had more than doubled in size. I asked that Al stay with me for fear of getting 'lost' in the Soviet system. It was midnight and the hospital was 25 km. from the hotel so we had time to share this thrilling adventure which became 'the story' of this trip upon return to Canada.
All this to say, that Al was an excellent colleague with whom I shared many enjoyable years of making rubber for Canada and the world. He was a consummate manager of people and a sound decision-maker for the many challenges that were faced. He was a good man and will be remembered as such!

Dear Alice, Janet, Barb and Diane
Please accept our heartfelt sympathy. We remember Al as a fun loving, happy man who along with you Alice, enjoyed many good times visiting with Amby & Ruth and playing cards.
