Obituary of Robert James Meerburg

MEERBURG, Robert James Passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health Services on Monday, February 6, 2017, at the age of 95 years. Robert James Meerburg of Sarnia, formerly of Forest. Loved husband and best friend of Marilyn (Churchman) for 60 years (May 10, 1957). Survived by his daughters Janet (Larry) of New Mexico, JoAnne (Larry) of British Columbia; sons Daniel (Sue) of Ipperwash and St. Thomas, and Dale (Helga) of Alliston. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Lea, Erin, Erik, Adrienne, Melissa, Derek, James, Christopher, Reid, Holly, Jessi, and Kelsey, and his 17 great-grandchildren. James is also survived by his sister Margaret Dunn of Toronto. Predeceased by his sister Millie McLean, and his brother John Meerburg (late Donna). Son of the late Dirk and Lillian Meerburg. James was a part owner of Kernohan Motors in Forest, and he also enjoyed a career as a Bus Driver, and earned the Transportation Safety Association 38 Year Safe Driver Award. Visitation will take place at DENNINGS OF FOREST, 9 James Street South, Forest, on Sunday, February 12, 2017, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place in the chapel on Monday afternoon, February 13, 2017, at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
