Upon just recently hearing this news, my heart broke, for all of you. However, I've had to keep reminding myself, that this earth is just a pit-stop, on the way to be with our Lord. How awesome, how joyous, it must be for Brian now! May you keep your eyes upon our final destination. My prayers are with you all. xo Sande

Dear Kim, Jacob, Zachary and family,
Sending my deepest, heartfelt sympathy in the loss of such a amazing, cherished man -Brian.
I was given the pleasure of knowing Brian as a co-worker in Wyoming. His presence was a gift to people he supported and staff as well. Whenever he was on shift "all was well" the person(s) he supported were the focus and he provide top quality care to them. He was kind, intelligent, giving and his light hearted humour brought smiles and laughter to clients and staff. This truly was a blessing, he simply made the world a better place to be. I think he made Jesus smile too! With a tear in my eye and a smile on my heart Brian will be often and fondly remembered.
Sending Love and Peace to you
Karen

To Kim, Jacob, Zachary, and Beryl:
So many years have gone by and its always a shame that people lose touch with each other until you read of a passing of a friend. I have several fond memories of Brian when we worked together at Service Canada. When I dropped Chantal off at your house for child care and picked up Brian at times and drove to work. We shared many laughs together. I had no idea where you were living now nor was I aware that Brian was ill. Beryl, I have not seen you in years. I am sure your daughter Kim and your grandchildren will need your loving support through these difficult times. Brian left this world way too young. I am very sorry for your loss Kim and please know that you are in my thoughts at this difficult time.

Entire Aitken Family,
Please accept our sincere condolences during this difficult time. My wife (Jen) and I have were extremely saddened to hear of Brian's passing. We have both worked at LCDS for 25+ years. We have come to know Brian as great advocate for all people in the Developmental Services sector. Brian was so respectful and respected by the people we support and his peers. His wry sense of humour went a long way in easing any situation. We had many not-so-great conversations about the Toronto Maple Leafs as well. We will all miss him!

Thinking of you all...

I had the pleasure of working with Brian at LCDS, mostly at Ontario Street. His passion and dedication to the people he supported is something I will always admire about him. Brian and I spent a lot of time together working the same shift so we got to know one another quickly. We shared stories of our lives and our love of rock n' roll. Kim and family, I am deeply sorry for your loss, Brian was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by those whose hearts he touched.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. We have always believed that “the oil of joy for mourning” is the fact that our loved ones who are gone are with their Lord and Saviour. Brian was an exemplary example of the hands and feet of what Christianity is meant to be.

I worked with Brian, spending more time with him most weeks, then I did my own family. We challenged each other, had great conversations and went on many adventures together while working......not to mention a few....several, friendly games of crib. I have missed skunking you.
His compassion and dedication for the people we supported was above and beyond.
He brought me a cupcake to celebrate my 10 year anniversary at our location. Totally made my day, and was truly touched by his gesture.
You will be missed. Thinking of you Kim and your boys at this most difficult time.

Brian was such a wonderful testimony, not only in life but also in his passing. His faith and grace were so evident to all in our little neighbourhood.
