Obituary of Ben Rops

ROPS, Ben With great sadness we announce the death of Ben Rops. He passed away at home surrounded by his children and grandchildren on May 2nd, 2014, at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Ria (Willemse) Rops for 51 years. Loving father/grandfather of: Marty (Cathy) Rops of Mitchell and their children Eric, Rianne, Jenna and Kevin; Mary-Anne (Mark) Studenny of Ilderton and Cassandra, Nicole, Jessica, Michael and Kaitlyn; Linda (Dave) Bryson of Okotoks, Alberta and Jacob, Clarissa, Nicholas and Isaac; David (Tracy) Rops of Starnberg, Germany and Benjamin and Riley. He is survived by his sisters: Pauline (Richard) Looman, Mary (Ted) Vanos, Nellie (Joe) Boere and Joanne Boere. Also by his in-laws: Nettie Rops, John (Teddie) Willemse, Annie (Theo) Versteegh, Gera (John) Peters, Casey (Linda) Willemse, Bouw (Marg) Willemse and Harry (Lorraine) Willemse, plus many cherished nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents: Martin (1998) and Catherine (1970) Rops, parents-in-law Henry (1989) and Johanna Willemse (2003), his brother Harry Rops (1995) and brother-in-law, Bill Boere (2007). Ben was well-known for his love of his family, soccer, farming, woodworking, poker, and his faith. Visitation will be held at the FOREST CHAPEL OF DENNING FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 9 James Street South, Forest, on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 11:00 am. Fr. Tom Donohue Celebrant. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
