I was a summer ministry student at St. Andrew’s in Greenstone in, I think, 2011. Neil came up and visited a few times that summer and made sure to visit with me. His support was really welcome that summer and I still think of him fairly regularly. It was a shock to see that he had passed away when I went onto the PCC website today. Neil was a good man and I wish you God’s peaceful presence as you continue on without him.

From the day Neil came into our lives, he was first a friend and then considered a member of our family - a friend especially to my elder sisters and a friend to Mom and Dad.
He was in Kinsmen with our father and maybe, just maybe not such a good influence on Dad at times - Neil was a few years younger than him.
Dad would even go as a chaperone on school travel groups (camping) with Neil.
When Dad passed away Neil was definitely support for our Mother, and us as a family.
Neil and I were also members of the local Kinsmen Club and Neil kind of watched over me.
Neil and my sister Marylin were very close and he was a good friend of her husband Michael, who was also a Kinsman and local Mayor for many years, and Neil a municipal councillor. The two had more than a few " spirited" discussions during their terms in office.
When Michael passed away, Neil was there for Marylin and our family once again - always there when needed.
When our Mother died, Neil was by our sides, helping us through the hard times.
Marylin passed within a year of Mom and, without question Neil was on a plane and here to lend his support and comfort in our time of grief, and did the honour of delivering her eulogy.
Believe me when I say there were many, many good times over the years and between these passings.
Neil was a major part of our family, considered a friend, even a brother.
We sincerely hope every family has the benefit of knowing someone like Neil.
Neil will be missed by many, not just our family, but the many lives he touched in general, as a teacher, and involved member of the community.
Neil was a person to look up to, to laugh with, to learn from.
Neil, you will be missed.

Neil was a wonderful friend to me and to Barb. We taught together, and enjoyed special times together. Neil was lucky enough to fall in love twice, which then included Joanne in our lives. The town of Geraldton will probably never really realize the positive impact he had through his political connections and dedication. Others will mention his teaching ability , his work on various groups and committees especially his push for the airport and the “kin” hall. Our condolences go out to Joanne and family. He wil be missed by many.

My condolences to Mr. MacOdrum's family. He was a wonderful teacher whose exploits continue live on in the stories I share with my own students. Part of my own passion for maths stems from my time in his class and my firm but fair attitude reflects what I encountered with him. I still remember how bad he felt when he broke my hockey stick while joining a game we were playing at recess as well how quickly he sought to rectify it by replacing the stick.
As I started my career, I came to know Neil as a colleague and mentor, not to mention as a wonderful host and organiser of many OPSTF functions.
On top of the impact that he had in the school and classroom, he gave freely of his time and energies for the betterment of his community and church.
He will always be fondly remembered by those he encountered as well as by the community that benefited from his involvement.
Thank-you Mr. Mac, may you Rest In Peace.

Wow ... this is unbelievable, I thought Mr. Mac was around forever and then some! I feel so very sad for the whole clan and for my clan as well. Mr. Mac was such a huge part of our lives and family and I thought of him often and often with ALOT of chuckles. Funny, we were just watching home movies the other night and there he was on a few of them doing his Kinsmen shenanigans, too funny! He was an AMAZING person, so patient and understanding ~ how many nights we shared driving kids back and forth at all times of the day and night, cooking, cleaning, babysitting (whatever it took, that's what Neil and I shared and believed). He was a true and supportive friend and although I haven't seen him for many, many years, he truly has a place deep in my heart and thoughts. Love to all the family, friends and people Neil has touched over so many years. xxoo

I am so sorry for your loss.
I will remember Neil fondly because of the time we spent teaching at B. A. Parker. In particular, thinking of the annual grade seven travel group bjrings a smile to my face. Every year Neil drove the bus to Thunder Bay so the grade seven students could spend a couple of days at Old Fort William and other points of interest in the city. When he was ahead of schedule and needed a break, he would take everyone up to the bluffs which looked out on Lake Superior. And he told the students that they were there to watch for submarines, which he explained was somewhat like whale watching! The students took him at his word and most of them saw at least one submarine. What a wonderful sense of humour!
God bless you all. I hold you in my thoughts and prayers.
