I was saddened to recieve a handwritten letter this morning from Barb Evans informing me of the passing of Irene. I first met Irene at the Hodgson family reunion on July 1, 2002, and we had stayed in contact ever since. I always tell people the longevity in this family has to do with our great Ontario genes. Irene was born just shy of 100 years after our first Hodgson ancestor arrived in Cavan Twsp., Durham Co. My own grandmother born in 1902 right across the road from where the reunion was held, made 100 and her mother born in the same room in 1867 almost made 106. My g-great grandfather Jacob Hodgson passed away in Bosnaquet Twsp. at 101. Jacob was Irene's great grandmother's (Mary Hodgson Karr/Kerr) brother. The entire extended Hodgson family has been lucky to have many family members live a long rich life and be able to pass along stories and information for future generations to enjoy and remember. I have been working on the Hodgson family tree for over 35 years now, hoping to eventually put a book out on this large family for all to read and enjoy. My deepest condolences to the extended families and relatives of the Evans, Clark, Lester and Karr/Kerr families and all those people that Irene touched over her lifetime. Michael Kaehn Victoria, BC

Our deepest condolences to Don and Larry Evans and their families. Don, your devotion to Irene's needs and happiness have been duly noted. She especially enjoyed the regular outings to Tim Horton's. Irene's father, Frank and my grandmother Georgina (Clark) Cousins were siblings. I never knew my grandmother nor Uncle Frank. Earliest memories are of visits to Aunt Pearl and Irene when they lodged with Reg Maylor and his family.(Hello Molly) In later years, Irene's hospitality was enjoyed at her charming home on Albert St. I remember Irene's amazement at having turned 90. Perhaps she is now teeing-up for a round with her former golfing buddies. You will be remembered. Goodnight Irene. Sincerely, Gary Cousins and Ray Crosby
