Obituary of Shirley Ann (Shan) Phibbs
PHIBBS, Shirley Ann (Shan)
Our hearts are broken as we announce the passing of a sister, an auntie, a cousin, and a friend to so many. Shirley Ann (Shan) Phibbs, passed into the presence of her Lord in her 84th year at her home in Forest, Ontario, on February 25, 2020. Shan began her amazing and very full life in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, on January 15, 1937 to her parents Herbert Phibbs (1996) and Christina Phibbs (2008). Survived by her brothers Terry (Flo) Phibbs of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, and Jack (Gabbie) Phibbs of Blind Bay, British Columbia, and her sister Wendy Wellington (Larry) of Forest, Ontario. Much loved Aunt to Jody (Bart) Dyrland, Kelly (Wade) Becker, both of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Chad (Christie) Wellington, Ryann (Tom) Hoskin, both of Forest, Ontario, and Kim (Cory) Wellington, of Corunna, Ontario. She will also be missed by her several great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by her infant brother Herbert Wayne Phibbs (1938). Shan was a military veteran, proudly serving her country with the NATO forces in France for seven years. Afterwards, settling in Toronto for 35 years, then retiring in Forest. Shan was well known for her never-ending sense of humour, friendship, love of books and animals, travelling, and her delicious chocolates. She had a special love of Scotland and her childhood friendship of 78 years with Beth Douglas. Visitation will take place at Forest Baptist Church in Forest, on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will take place at Forest Baptist Church on Thursday, March 5, 2020, at 11:00 am. For those who wish, memorial donations to the Sarnia Lambton Humane Society or to Forest Baptist Missions would be appreciated by the family.
