Dear Hilda, Laura, Cynthia and Families,
We are so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. We met Doug and Hilda in 1974 when we moved to Denfield, not realizing that Doug and myself were distant cousins. One fun memory I have is when Doug and I rode the bicycle built for two as "Kissin' Cousins" in the 1977 Denfield Centennial Parade. Shortly after that Doug and Hilda generously offered the Denfield Residents space to build a park on their piece of land at the north end of the village. As well, Gord enjoyed working with Doug on Saturdays delivering for Sears. Doug and Hilda were always very active in the community, and longtime members of the Denfield Baptist Church.
We remember Doug as always being soft spoken and kind and having a positive outlook.
Cherish the wonderful memories Hilda and family.
Love Shirley and Gord

Dear Hilda and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Doug. I had the pleasure of getting to know Doug and Hilda at cooking classes held at the Elders Lodge. He was so kind and welcoming from the moment I met him. I thoroughly enjoyed the time we all spent together and remember many great conversations with both Doug and Hilda. They gave me the most beautiful blue knit baby sweater and hat for my son who was born in 2017. My work role changed after having my son and unfortunately we did not cross paths again, but I think of them every time I see that little blue sweater set. Hilda, I am thinking of you and your family and will be keeping you in my prayers.

We had the privilege of having the Cornells live in our community of Kettle and Stony Point for almost 40 years. Hilda and Doug were very active members of our community and very special, long-time members of the Golden Eagle's Lodge.
One thing we all knew Doug was proud of, was his marriage of almost 70 years, to his beautiful wife Hilda, it was something he mention often. At most of our get togethers, Doug often opened with prayer and prayed for our meals. Doug was an avid baker, we liked to called him "the MuffinMan" who lived on Ruby Lane until he moved to Townsend Line in Forest. In our cooking classes at the Lodge, Doug almost always made the deserts.
The Cornells never shied away from our senior exercise sessions, they were members of our walking club and never missed our Tai Chi classes. Hilda and Doug could out pick anyone of us, when it came to picking berries for our Solidarity Day strawberry socials.
Personally, Hilda and Doug are my dearest friends, they are such good company, a real pleasure to be around. My heart breaks for my dear friend Hilda, my condolences to you and your family. I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Douglas Cornell you are a good man and I know I will be seeing again, bamapii my friend ❤
