Obituary of Douglas Cornell
Douglas Harry Cornell of Forest was welcomed into the loving presence of his Lord and Saviour on June 7, 2021, at the age of 88 years, at Bluewater Health, Sarnia. Loving husband of Hilda (Fetzer). Loved father of Laura (Louis) Desjardine, and Cynthia (Cory) McDonald. Special grandpa to James (Angela), Derek (Donna) Desjardine. Special papa to Adam (Alyson), Joel, and Julia McDonald. Great grandpa to Braden Bosman. Predeceased by his siblings Donald, Kenneth, Audrey and Harvey. Survived by 8 nieces and nephews. Douglas was born in London on August 9, 1932 to Dunc & Mildred (Partlo). Douglas lived many years in Denfield and played hockey, baseball, and coached the local kids. After retirement from truck driving and being a restaurateur in Parkhill, he had time to volunteer at Craigholme, and cooking for youth retreats. Doug also helped with clean up after Hurricane Katrina devastation, and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Baton Rouge. Hilda and Douglas built memories and friendships on vacations in England, Europe, the Caribbean, and across Canada. Douglas had a quiet and strong faith that helped him during the last few years of health challenges. Private interment to take place at Denfield Cemetery. A Celebration of Life is to be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the Food Grains Bank or Canadian Cancer Society are greatly appreciated.
