Liebe Silvia, liebe ganze Burgin Familie, zutiefst betroffen haben wir von Eugens Tod vernommen und wir entbieten euch unsere herzlichste Anteilnahme. Uns fehlen die Worte über den viel zu frühen Verlust von deinem Eugen und eurem Vater, aber wir möchten zum Ausdruck bringen, wie sehr wir Eugen und euch als ganze Familie schätzen. Unsere Reise zu euch auf die EUSI Farm vor 14 Jahren, als wir zehn Tage bei euch im Wohnwagen wohnen durften, war für uns eine wertvolle, prägende und glückliche Zeit. Eugen hat sich trotz viel Arbeit in jenem Mai 2007 die Zeit genommen, uns mit dem Pickup herumzufahren und uns die Farm und den damals recht neuen feedlot zu zeigen. Eugen war ein leidenschaftlicher Farmer und Unternehmer, der mit seinem grossen Wissen, seinem Fleiss, seiner Fähigkeit zur genauen Arbeit und seinem Netzwerk vieles bewegt hat in der Branche. Aber auch der gute Familienzusammenhalt, der Glaube an Jesus Christus und das gemeinsame Tragen in der ganzen Familie waren deutlich zu spüren. Gerne erinnern wir uns an die 'Stonepickers' und an den Sonntag, als eure Kinder mit unseren Kindern Basketball auf dem Hofplatz gespielt haben. Eugen darf nun bei seinem Herrn und Retter sein und schauen, was er geglaubt hat. Möge euch Gott in eurer Trauer um deinen Ehemann und euren Vater Kraft schenken und mögen viele glückliche und schöne Erinnerungen an Eugen euch Trost und Licht sein und der Glaube an ein Wiedersehen Zuversicht schenken. Unsere Gedanken und Gebete begleiten euch. My sincere condolences to the entire Burgin and extended families. I fondly remember many days on "EUSI" farms when the family first moved to Canada. From the original farmhouse with the blue carpet on the walls in the upstairs bedroom that ALL the kids shared, to building the new house, to the pony and horse and the many adventures in the back woods of the farm. Eugene's testament is evident in his family and the way he treated all he knew. My thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

As our neighbour Eugene was always approachable no matter how busy he was. If it was for a short talk or just to let us know what products were being laid down in the field across the road from our house..a true neighbour and carrying gentlemen farmer. You will be missed and remembered. It was July 2000 and we just purchased our home... Second day in our new home and I see this man walking the field with a hoe in hand.... What kind of farmer is hoeing a 100 acre field. . .Eugene was out checking and identifying weeds to know how to treat the field.... Dedicated to his family and trade...

Sincere condolences to all of the Burgin family, I met Eugen through the sugar beet business. Many years ago a group of farmers went to Europe to look into purchasing equipment. Eugen became our official tour guide through Germany and into Switzerland. We visited his family farm and his parents graciously invited us into their home and insisted on providing us a fabulous meal. He was an intelligent, honest, hard working person. A pleasure to deal with. He will be missed.
