Obituary of Barbara Clarissa McKellar

BARBARA CLARISSA McKELLAR (SCOTT)

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, Barb passed away peacefully after a short illness surrounded by her family. Predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Ron, her parents Alvin and Bertha, brother Ken, and sisters Jean and Lois. Barb is survived by her children Scott (Melanie), Paul (Cheryl), Cheryl (Dwayne) and Brenda (Jamie) as well as her grandchildren Kendra (Matt), Tieson, Connor, RJ, Thommy, Micky, Lena and Scarlett as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Barb’s niece Kathy and husband Rick held a special place in her heart as part of her extended family.

Barb was born in Bosanquet township on the Scott family homestead which remained a part of her life, celebrating her 80th birthday there in September. Barb pursued a career in nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse through the Sarnia General Hospital Nursing program in 1964. Her career in nursing began at Sarnia General and then her caring and giving nature led her to providing nursing care in the long-term care sector in which she continued until her retirement.

Family was the focus of Mom’s life and she treated everyone she met as part of the family. With four active children she was always seen at the arena for hockey and skating lessons in the winter, swimming lessons in the summer and at any school or church event where she was needed. Mom’s special talents were with a needle of some type with many family members and friends becoming the proud owner of a quilt, crochet throw or warm sweater as well as in the kitchen where the banana bread, pies, brownies and butter tarts were always in demand. With Mom you were always loved, warm and well fed. Her love of sports, specifically hockey and curling, led her in her retirement to the arena or pitch or diamond to watch grandchildren play or she was supporting Canadian teams from her home, regardless of the hour of the day.

Visitation is to be held from at DENNING'S OF FOREST, 9 James Street South, on Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Funeral Service is to be held at St James Presbyterian Church on Friday afternoon, December 9, 2022, at 2:00 pm.  Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.  Reception to follow at the Forest Legion. In lieu of flowers the family would ask that donations be made in Barb’s memory to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Bluewater Health Foundation in Sarnia, or St James Presbyterian Church in Forest.

Those who wish to view the Funeral Service via live stream are welcome to visit https://forestfuneralhome.com/tribute/details/19191/Barbara-McKellar/obituary.html#tribute-start and select the "live stream" option on Friday afternoon, December 9, 2022 at 2:00 pm.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bluewater Health for the exceptional care and compassion we all received during her final days. We love you Mom, and pray you rest in eternal peace.
