Obituary of Ronald Charles Gough

RONALD CHARLES GOUGH

September 2, 1938 – November 19, 2023

We the family of Ronald Charles Gough are deeply saddened by his passing, on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Bluewater Health, in Sarnia.

Ron was born in Delaware Township to the late Leroy and Gladys (Askey) Gough.  Beloved husband of Bernice Szymanski-Gough.  Father to Gary (Beverley) and Tracey (Craig).  Dad loved his time with his grandchildren, nicknaming each on arrival, Gator, Ally, Klick and Rainy.  Their parents named them Graydon, Alyse (Steve), Myles (Madeleine) and Reanna (Derek).  Ron truly adored his great-grandsons, Walter and Winston.  Ron leaves behind his brother Eugene (Marion), sister Phyllis (Bruce) and brother-in-law Edward.  Predeceased by his sister Janet.

Much loved in-law to Harry (late Rita), Ted (Regina), Julius (Susan) and Irene.  Ron is predeceased by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.  Uncle to many special nieces and nephews.

For over 67 years, Ron was so fortunate to have his best friend, Ken (Peggy) Lamon, to share life’s adventures with.

Ron enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his many friends, sharing a hot tottie, telling and retelling their many stories.

Ron retired from Ontario Hydro, as a Supervising Electrical Inspector, after a 37-year career.

Ron and Bea then took to the road, hunting, fishing, travelling, and enjoying each other’s company for the remainder of their time together.

We would like to thank Ron’s many doctors, especially Dr. Kim, Dr. Dobbs, his wonderful nurses, home support workers, and their always supportive neighbour Brad Getty for all their care and compassion during Ron’s last few years.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Ron enjoyed his days in the bush or at hunt camp.  For many years he contributed to the growth of new and young hunters, as he was a hunter safety training instructor. 

Ron loved life, and he lived it to the fullest.  We welcome you to celebrate Ron’s life by “sharing a taste” to celebrate a life well lived.  There will be no ceremony at this time.
