On Saturday, June 22 2024 Winnie was laid to rest beside her loving husband Allen Braun. Rev. Sandra Cable officiated at the group ceremony with the immediate family in attendance. Sandra ended the ceremony, Sally Braun-Jackson put Winnie's ashes in their place and those in attendance threw a red rose on top of the wooden box holding the ashes. The roses came from a plant that was given to Winnie on her birthday years ago. One of those tiny sweetheart rose bushes that came from a grocery store. Winnie kept the rose and it grew and stayed alive. I, Paul Leinweber, took it to St. Marys and planted it in my back yard and it still grows to this day. Those in attendance were Winnie's daughter and granddaughter Willow Braun-Jackson, son-in-law Paul Rathbone and his son Tyler Rathbone, Winnie's sister Marian, minister Sandra Cable, myself Paul Leinweber. When the ceremony was concluded all in attendance went to the Dennings Funeral Home where members of the extended McKinlay family and Braun family intermingled. A light luncheon was provided. All done as Winnifred May Braun wished. She will be remembered.

My condolences to the family. Great aunt Winnie was my grandma Redmonds sister. I will always remember our phone calls. She would call if I missed it the message would be its your Great aunt Winnie i'll call back dont worry about calling me. She called shortly after my dad passed and that phone call ment the world to me. She always asked about my kiddos and loved when Paul showed her their pictures on Facebook. She was a wounderful lady that will be deeply missed. I will cherish our memories forever.

I always enjoyed visits with Aunt Winnie. In my first year of university I was very homesick and she picked me up from residence and took me out for some shopping and supper (Albert's Diner). It was just what I needed:) We will miss our fun, independent, fashionable aunt.

I will miss my Holiday phone calls with Aunt Winnie. I’ve been spending time going back through some old photos. Found a few of the Mission sisters and Grandma and Grandpa.

Great Aunt Winnie was my Grandma Redmond’s sister. When my girls were born, a trip to visit Great-great Aunt Winnie was high on the list.
I was always fascinated by Aunt Winnie’s treasures she had from the Bahamas and her travels— the shells and jewelry.
Aunt Winnie will be greatly missed. I can hear her say ‘Anyways, we’ll talk to you again’.

I have been neighbor's with Winnie since 2006 . She was always a pleasure to chat with! She will be missed by the 152 Albert residents . I always enjoyed time on her patio with Winnie & Paul . Occasionally with cigars. Deepest condolences to her family & Paul. Sincerely , Jarmo Stromberg Unit 21.

I hope they have two sets of cards in heaven with the jokers included because Winnie loved to play canasta. She felt it relaxed her but there was more to it than that, she loved to play the game, it kept her mind sharp and of course she loved to beat me. We spent many an afternoon sitting around the kitchen table playing that game. She was a good companion and like all good Scots she enjoyed a wee bit of Scotch. In discussions over the years I found out that Winnie had always wanted to be a store keeper, but that changed to being a banker, and finally becoming a teacher. There were many days when she would run into former students either at a funeral or even the slots in London. She was lucky when it came to winning at those machines and her black Buick was lucky for her when she was hit by a deer. The Buick saved her from any harm and probably hurt the deer more than any damage to the vehicle. Winnie loved her cruises and making friends with fellow workers of Al when they visited the islands. Many friends visited from family to former school principals. Winnie and Al were builders never having lived except briefly after their marriage in an old home. Instead they built a home in Forest, another at the Lake and then one outside of Warwick. There final destination was London where they purchased a new condo. When Winnie passed she was the only owner that was there from the beginning, an original owner. She loved her condo and the multitude of flowers she kept on her patio. She will be missed.

We enjoyed spending time with Winnie and Uncle Paul at many 9 Rockford gatherings and anniversary dinners. Her enthusiastic nature to know what our worlds were like every time we saw each other made for easy conversation and lots of laughter. We will miss her but she will always have a place in our hearts.
Winnie, I will miss seeing your bright smile! May you rest in peace.

Winnie was such a kind, loving, gentle soul and we were so blessed that she was a part of our lives. We will cherish all the happy memories with her. She was such a pleasure to talk to and her stories of teaching, travelling and living in the Bahamas were always fun to hear. Uncle Paul took such good care of her the last couple of years. Our condolences to all her family and friends.
May she rest in peace now. We love you Winnie and we will miss you dearly.

Aunt Winnie was always a part of my childhood, from days visiting in Forest or on the lake! Later, as I worked from downtown London, Aunt Winnie and I would meet for coffee or shopping. We never ran out of things to chat about! She called me regularly to inquire about Jonathan and Becky and our four grandchildren. I’ll miss her very much! Colossians 2:5

As you can see from this picture, Winnie was a long time part of community life here and the last of the original owners at 152 Albert. Here we are at one of the neighbour's houses, Jane's # 20, celebrating a 60th Birthday, of one of us who were part of the "Friday Night Club ". She will be remembered fondly.
