Obituary of Winnie Braun

Winnifred Braun passed away peacefully at University Hospital, London, Ontario, in her 94th year, with her loving family beside her. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Allen Braun and survived by her longtime friend, Paul Leinweber, who cared for her until her death.

Winnie is survived by her daughter Sally Braun-Jackson (and the late Jeffrey) of Hamilton, Ontario and predeceased by her daughter Kristina Rathbone (Paul) of London, Ontario.

Winnie was one of four McKinlay daughters, fondly called The Mission Sisters, who regularly went for lunch and on a mission (usually shopping). She is survived by her sister, Marion McFarlane (Bruce) of Forest, Ontario. and predeceased by Grace Wellington (Muray) and Irene Redmond (James), all of Forest, Ontario.  Winnie was a very special Grandma to Eric (Kayla) and Tyler (Christine) Rathbone, Willow Braun-Jackson, and a Great-Grandma to Hanna and Noah Rathbone. She will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews and their extended families.

Winnie and Al loved to travel. They were first bitten by the travel bug in the Bahamas, where they lived for two years, and afterward visited Bogota, Columbia, The Cayman Islands, took a bus tour through Europe, took a cruise to Hawaii and spent a month beachcombing in Granada. Our well-travelled adventurer has now gone home.

Winnie's wishes were to have a private interment with only her immediate family present at a date yet to be determined. Her remains will be placed alongside her late husband, Allen, at Beechwood Cemetery in Forest, Ontario.
