Obituary of Melvin Dale
Dale, Melvin Rae, C.S.T.
On Monday, January 20, 2014 in his 96th year, Melvin went to be with his Lord. Formerly of London and living in Forest, Melvin was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Geraldine (2012) and is survived by his daughters Catherine Topping, Anne Clayton and Mary Beth (Bruce 2011) Snelgrove. Melvin will be sadly missed by his grandchildren; Stephenie (Hal) Inglis, Alaena (Nader) Atefi, Scott Clayton, and Matthew Snelgrove. Also survived by his loving great grandchildren Mac, Jaxson, Noah and David. Melvin was born in London on Southdale Road. He will be missed by relatives and friends. Melvin was Road Superintendent of Westminster Township, Trustee of Glendale Public School, Public Works Manager of the Town of Forest, and Councilor for the Town of Forest. He was Past President and Life Member of the Ontario Good Roads Association, Honorary Life Member and Honorary Secretary-Treasurer of Ontario Road Supervisors, Founding Member of TJ Mahoney Road School and Instructor of Road Superintendents at the University of Guelph. Melvin was a Certified Senior Survey Technician. For 25 years, he volunteered for the St. Clair Region Conservation Foundation. Melvin was a Founding Member of Mt. Olive/Faith Lutheran Churches. As a genealogist and historian, he penned the family histories of the Dales, Fischers, Mahns, Kochs, and Mortons. He wrote the history of the Ontario Road Supervisors.
Friends may call at Faith Lutheran Church, 310 Southdale Road East, London, on Friday, January 24, 2014, from 12:00 pm - 1 :00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the church at 1:00 pm. For those who wish, in memoriam donations to the St. Clair Region Conservation Foundation, MS Society, or to Organization for Literacy in Lambton would be appreciated by the family.
