It was with sadness I felt when I heard of Ron's passing. My thoughts and sincerest wishes are being sent to Ron's family during this time. I enjoyed the visits on the farm when I travelled with Mom and Dad to Ontario. I will always remember the time that we went to a horse race in Windsor. It was a race to get down for the picture after one of Ron's horses won!(I think that I might have delayed it a little, as my purse got stuck on the seat and being in grade two- I couldn't leave it behind :)) I also remember swimming in the pool the time that we went out the summer, I was in grade ten. Ron had a bright smile and an infectious laugh that stayed with you. He was a very special person and will be truly missed. My thoughts are with you. Cheryl Harper(Rocky Mountain House, AB)

I will never forget this incident.
Back in May of 1969, Ron, my dad and several other farmers purchased and imported new Ford tractors from the British Isles. I drove my dad's new Ford home from the Strathroy train station. Anyhow, i believe these guys had to have a few libations to celebrate their purchases. A couple of hours later, Ron attends our farm. I had at that time, a Yamaha motorbike. Ron asked if he could take it for a drive. Of course I allowed him and away he drove, out the laneway and down the Egremont Road. Several minutes later, I heard the sound of the motorbike engine and I witness Ron returning. Our gateway is almost 20 feet wide with a huge maple tree at each end of the opening. Well, you may have guessed, he missed the gateway opening and struck one of the trees. The only damage was bent forks on the bike. Yes, he paid me for the repair, but these words that he spoke, will always remain -
"god, don't tell Irene". I never did!

My deepest sympathy goes out to Irene,Joan,Tracy and families in the loss of a terrific person...As my brother said Ron was one of Dad's very close and dear friends and they shared alot of great times and laughs together...Dad always looked forward to Ron's visits at the home so he could catch up on the local news and any new jokes Ron might have to tell...The memories I have of these two together go on and on and I will cherish them all forever...I can see the two of them now and wondering what kind of mischief they are getting into...Love Cheryl
